چکیده

Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves are useful statistical tools for medical diagnostic testing. It has been proved its capability to assess diagnostic marker’s ability to distinguish between healthy and diseased subjects and to compare different diagnostic markers. In this paper we introduce non parametric ROC summary statistics to assess a ROC curve across the entire range of FPFs ∈ (0, 1) as well as over a restricted range of FPFs and compare them with some existing ones through a simulation study and through some real data examples. We also show their capability to compare two diagnostic markers. keywords and phrases: Receiver operating characteristic; Non parametric methods; Diagnostic marker;

Combining dependent tests to compare the diagnostic accuracies--a non-parametric approach.

In this paper, we propose a non-parametric approach for comparing diagnostic accuracies in multi-reader receiver operating characteristic (ROC) studies. The approach constructs a test from each reader by extending the conventional non-parametric method and then combines all the individual test statistics to draw an overall conclusion on the relative accuracies of different diagnostic tests. The...

Estimating the Area under a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve For Repeated Measures Design

The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is widely used for diagnosing as well as for judging the discrimination ability of different statistical models. Although theories about ROC curves have been established and computation methods and computer software are available for cross-sectional design, limited research for estimating ROC curves and their summary statistics has been done for...

Semi-Parametric Inference for the Partial Area Under the ROC Curve

Diagnostic tests are central in the field of modern medicine. One of the main factors for interpreting a diagnostic test is the discriminatory accuracy. For a continuous-scale diagnostic test, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, AUC, is a useful onenumber summary index for the diagnostic accuracy of the test. When only a particular region of the ROC curve would be ...

ROC curve and covariates: extending induced methodology to the non-parametric framework

Continuous diagnostic tests are often used to discriminate between diseased and healthy populations. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is a widely used tool that provides a graphical visualisation of the effectiveness of such tests. The potential performance of the tests in terms of distinguishing diseased from healthy people may be strongly influenced by covariates, and a varie...

Semi-parametric maximum likelihood estimates for ROC curves of continuous-scale tests.

In this paper, we propose a new semi-parametric maximum likelihood (ML) estimate of a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve that satisfies the property of invariance of the ROC curve and is easy to compute. We show that our new estimator is sqrt[n]-consistent and has an asymptotically normal distribution. Our extensive simulation studies show that the proposed method is efficient and ro...
